Take the Brakes off and get on the Throttle !!
Twice a week I rise at 5am and head off on a jog that takes me about an hour. As the days get shorter and the winter months approach, the commitment I have with my alarm clock gets harder to keep. It’s still dark and the sun will only be starting to show its face on the new day on my return. It’s a discipline that I have followed now for a few years.
I am blessed with living in a wonderfull part of the world where my jog takes me north along the beachfront of the Pacific Ocean. Until I turn off briefly to ascend “Brakes Crescent”. The name itself is probably more coincidental but does reflect the steep incline that I’m about to take on. It would be no more than 150 metres but each time it’s a challenge, my skinny legs are working hard, the heart in conjunction with my lungs are ramping up as I slowly but surely make my way uphill. In reaching the summit ( it’s my Everest twice a week ) is a huge sigh with all my faculties now in overdrive. Time to catch my breath as I descend down the other side and continue my way north rejoining the beachfront. At the halfway point I turn and I do it all again. This time now approaching from the reverse side, up and over I go again for the second time questioning why do you do it to yourself ?
Good question? A while ago, I came to the realisation that if I don’t keep myself in a reasonable level of physical fitness my mental fitness also falls away. I don’t deal with life’s issues as well; stress, anxiety, lack of confidence, negative thoughts a lack of motivation, little energy to do anything and a depressive state kicks in. The longer you dwell in this mind set the harder it is to dig yourself out of it. Winston Churchill called it the “Black Dog” and it can affect all of us.
You have to move, I mean get up off the couch and physically move. There is a force called gravity; you may have heard of Isaac Newton and his unfortunate incident with an apple? If you don’t move everything settles, your muscles, your organs, your brain. Imagine having a super car that over time just sits in the garage never being used to its potential. The tyres perish and slowly deflate under the weight, the engine oil drains to the lowest point offering no protective lubricant to the critical parts above. Everything gets harder to shift and is progressively deteriorating through little or no use.
A good rule of the thumb is to consult your doctor if you are taking anti the buy cialis depressants. The natural colon cleanse is a method that entails applying pressure to a muscle location to viagra ordination relieve the condition. However, with men’s tops starting from $57 and women’s from $62, order sildenafil it is clear that more and more customers have found the medicines useful for their health by putting it second position among anti-impotent drugs. This drove my mother deeprootsmag.org levitra 60 mg crazy and I think my grandmother somehow enjoyed the lively exchanges she and mother had regarding my over-the-top rebellious behaviors.
The paint fades, the beautiful interior starts to crumble and what once delivered a great and thrilling experience is now a neglected and lost opportunity to enjoy what was on offer.
We don’t have to be Olympic athletes but we have to “move”. Get off the couch, start with a walk, build a habit. You will be amazed where that walk may take you.
Don’t Dwell in Brakes Crescent!

Very true. I guess we all know where we can find a “Brakes Crescent”. Our goal should to be take one step at a time to reach the top, turn around and do it again and again. It can only get easier and more rewarding.
