Humpty Dumpty Sat on a Wall Which Prime Minister will be next to fall
We all stood in a line that was far too long at the local School Hall. We finally reached the front of the line and had our names marked off. The friendly young assistant gave me my voting papers. One small and easily controllable green slip and another white piece of paper that would have put the Dead Sea Scrolls to shame. This particular ballot paper for the Australian Senate went on and on. Who the hell were all these people that had their name on this quest for a Senate seat. And how the hell was I going to actually unravel the thing in my inadequate cardboard voting booth to have any chance of understanding who was who in this undeniable zoo of madness. Thank God the lady outside had given me an instruction leaflet on what to do and who’s name to number in a given order!
And through my frustration I got to thinking about what I and all Australian citizens were here to do. We are very fortunate to live in such a democracy as ours. I’m sure many people across the world can only wonder what it must be like to have such a privilege. We were voting on who we feel should run our country for the next three years – without a gun pointed at our heads.
But here’s the thing – to me, Australian politics and its politicians have lost the plot. It could be a fair comment to say they appear to spend more time focusing on their own personal agenda – empire building with no loyalty, paying the ferryman for past favours and at the end of the day, we have little, if any, direction or actual strong leadership of our country – which apparently was the actual reason I made my contribution to our Democracy in voting on Saturday.
The major parties are just as bad as each other. Trying to outbid each other with their misleading generosity, throwing $Millions at us as though it’s their money and not the tax payer’s to start with. So it’s no surprise that so many people are voting for minor parties or independents. The likes of Jacqui Lambie, Darren Hinch and Pauline Hanson among them – at least these individuals seem to stand for something albeit whether you believe it’s right or wrong. They have the guts and commitment and (dare I say it) an increasing level of credibility. They call a spade a spade! Rather than the pussy footing and lip service offered by the likes of Bill Shorten and Malcolm Turnbull.
- If you are a young Australian of six year’s of age, you are living in a country that has had five Prime Ministers in the same timeframe.
- If you turned 18 year’s of age in 2010 you have now voted twice. Sadly you haven’t voted for three of the past five Australia’s Prime Ministers during this time.
Eating foods high in sugar can lead to damage of cartilages buy cialis cialis and bones in joints, dysfunction of joints and even disablement. Just to be clear, your vote actually has nothing to do with who will be CEO. Rather you voted for the company! I certainly haven’t received any preferential shares or entitlements in this apparent corporate entity. But then again – it’s a long gravy train! . Our major party politicians would appear to have limited commitment or the vision to what we require as a progressive forward thinking country. It appears to be quite the opposite to the American President John F. Kennedy’s famous quote “Don’t ask what can your country do for you, but what can you do for your country”. We seem to have a rather pathetic group of major party politicians whose mantra is “What can the country do for me and when can I pick up my great superannuation benefit and free gold pass travel entitlements “. Along with “I don’t care about moral integrity and why should I care – it’s just a job with great benefits that I’d like to take advantage of ”
Is it no wonder we are all becoming a country of disillusioned voters. How can an elected party achieve anything for the good of a country when they have no cohesiveness in their own ranks or the intestinal fortitude to make the hard decisions without fear of a backlash. Where is the actual team that stands behind the leadership? It will be interesting to see whose head rolls next and who is misguidedly desperate and stupid enough to hold the poison chalice of Australia’s next Prime Minister.
As a prosperous country (and we are a prosperous country) we need stability and certainty from our elected leaders !

It’s sad to think we are measuring a length of time by the number of Prime Ministers that will come and go. The standing joke at the moment – “3 Prime Ministers until Christmas”.
