I haven’t sat down and done a blog for a while, I’ve been crazy busy over the last couple of months.
Prior to COVID-19, Deb and myself had our plan for the next two years, that all things being equal would get us to our next phase in what we would like to do in our lives.
We had a planned holiday to Japan cancelled and when we all went into lockdown, how we spent our time completely changed.
So with reduced options to fill my weekends and Deb being stood down from her work, our two year plan went into overdrive. Project House took front stage and has been for the last couple of months. Landscaping, painting and refurbishing bathrooms. It’s the whole box and dice and it’s been in full swing. We’ve still got a way to go though I reckon we’ve cut 3 months off our timing.
The demands of my Monday to Friday role has (or seems to have) also increased. And so it is that the COVID pandemic has only supercharged the pace and demands of our world. Albeit by our own choice.
There’s been some blood spilt on the way and plenty of investing in “Sweat Equity”. I love that term – it’s truly descriptive. I do get immense satisfaction and enjoyment from our projects and after quite a few years of practice on past properties, I reckon I get a pretty good result for an amateur.
Where am I heading with this you may well ask?
A couple of weeks back in one of my finer moments, I’d cut my leg in two places with both injuries requiring stitches.
Medical studies have shown that half of men http://appalachianmagazine.com/advertise-with-us-2/ viagra sale section between the ages 40 and above. While we’re there throw in my right wrist, it’s giving me grief for some reason. But hey I am a machine ( that’s what I tell Deb anyway ) so let’s not let these niggling issues slow me up. So… back into it feeling somewhat damaged but still on my feet.
Last Saturday, unplanned, I had to take our old dog to the vet. After running around and rescheduling this and that, when I got home I was zonked! I felt mentally drained and physically exhausted. Like I’d just ran into a brick wall.
So it is on this Sunday, I recognise I need a rest day. I may be a machine of sorts but even machines need downtime. It’s winter on the Gold Coast, it’s a cool but beautiful sunny day with the ocean sparkling with its clear bright blue water. Good for the soul and good for the heart and mind.
Work will always be there but today will be lost to tomorrow.
Truthfully – Ok I’m not a machine but I’m enjoying the downtime and today I’m being creative in a less physical way, call it a recharge I needed. Even if it’s just for 24 hours.
As always, thanks for reading – RD
Hey Deb – what’s that movie Tess said we should watch with Liam Neeson?

Hi Dad,
For some reason I didn’t see my reference at the bottom first time around. Scrolling through my emails, reread your blog and here we are!
The movie was Nonstop. Can’t remember if you and mum watched it but I really enjoyed it. The TV show I’ve been insisting you watch is called Wacol. 🙂
