Change is never far away, it’s a constant in our lives.
Sometimes change isn’t invited but it rains on our party regardless. You didn’t anticipate it, you didn’t ask for it, you didn’t plan for it! It’s forced upon you. You have to deal with it whether you like it or not.
That’s the S— happens type of change.
Then there’s the desire to change. It might be a career change or it might be a lifestyle change.
Making the decision to change can be a serious challenge. It’s going to get you out of your comfort zone. It’s definitely going to be disruptive. You might need new skills, good advice and a plan.
There’s the fear of change – What if it turns out to be the wrong decision?
Hey let’s not upset the apple cart – right? I’m doing ok. I’m surviving!
But you keep dreaming of a change, an opportunity to advance to a more fulfilling life. You might be frustrated and feeling trapped. I’ve found myself in that space a few times.
Imagine for a moment.
The change you desired is now staring you in the face, like a gift horse. It’s the opportunity that you’ve been wanting and dreaming about – a self fulfilling prophecy.
Congratulations, you are now your own worst enemy!
As the saying goes “Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it”.
Now it’s all about your actual will to change! Think about your past choices.
We need to go back to the basics that make the biggest difference in how our life works out*.
Change brings growth and life opportunities.
Yep, it can be a tough decision but if you’re frustrated today why would you think it’s going to be any different tomorrow or next month or next year or next decade. Without change, you might be going head long into a very narrow long term and unfulfilling existence.
I think it was Einstein who said – The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting a different result.
So, it would seem where we currently are in our lives is partly a result of our past decisions on embracing the opportunities of change.
Remember the Gift Horse – Never look it in the mouth!
If you don’t like how things are, believe in yourself. It might be time to make that change. – RD
